Robot” is one of the most important shows on television, showing creators that a different visual language and storytelling style is possible in the era of the antihero. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment released all four seasons on DVD and Blu-ray. The first season was released on January 12, 2016.
The series follows Elliot Alderson, a young man living in New York City, who works at the cybersecurity company Allsafe as a cybersecurity engineer. Constantly struggling with social anxiety, dissociative identity disorder, clinical depression and drug abuse, Elliot's thought process seems heavily influenced by paranoia and delusion. He connects to people by hacking them, which often leads him to act as a cyber-vigilante. He is recruited by a mysterious insurrectionary anarchist known as Mr. Robot and joins his team of hacktivists known as fsociety. One of their missions is to cancel all consumer debt by encrypting all the data of one of the largest corporations in the world, E Corp , which also happens to be Allsafe's biggest client.

Mr. Robot is an American drama thriller television series created by Sam Esmail for USA Network. It stars Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer and hacker with social anxiety disorder, clinical depression and dissociative identity disorder. Elliot is recruited by an insurrectionary anarchist known as "Mr. Robot", played by Christian Slater, to join a group of hacktivists called "fsociety".
They instead switch back and forth for full control of Elliot's mind. Mr. Robot was revealed to be working with Angela without Elliot knowing. Mr. Robot works to try to destroy the E-Corp recovery facility while Elliot attempts to prevent that attack.

The third season debuted in October 2017 and consisted of 10 episodes. All episodes were directed by Esmail, just as in the second season. On December 13, 2017, USA renewed Mr. Robot for a fourth season. In August 2018, it was confirmed that the fourth season would be the final season. He takes note of Elliot becoming more aggressive and doing things that he wouldn't normally do.

In an interview with Terry Gross for the radio show Fresh Air, Malek recounted contacting a psychologist to learn about schizophrenia, dissociative identity disorder, and social anxiety. When in meetings with Esmail, Malek's knowledge on the topics led Esmail to bring the psychologist on as a consultant for the show. Inverse described Mr. Robot as "setting a new standard for depictions of mental illness ... without ending up exploitative." Because of that reason, the show can often be as annoying as Elliot. It too often takes stabs at the people who need their “NCISes and Lexapro,” and for every scene in which I love the unusual pace of “Mr.
In season 3 episode 6, Elliot and Mr. Robot fight for control while trying to prevent the explosion of the recovery facility. Elliot believes that there is no point in this, as people will die and that there are no paper records in the facility because he sent them in shipments across the country. Mr. Robot eventually realizes this and stops the explosion from happening. Elliot is relieved until he realizes that 72 E-Corp buildings across the country had exploded or caught fire in a large-scale terrorist attack.
Production began in New York on April 13, 2015. The pilot premiered on multiple online and video on demand services on May 27, 2015, and the series was renewed for a second season before the first season premiered on USA on June 24, 2015. In December 2015, it was announced that Esmail would direct all episodes in the second season.

When Mr. Robot threatens to make a scene, Elliot agrees to talk at the bar next door. Mr. Robot apologizes for his outburst, explaining that "people who get violent get that way because they can't communicate." He urges Elliot to forgive Edward for his actions, and declares that without Elliot, fsociety cannot proceed at all. He wins Elliot over by telling a story about his father, a career criminal who believed that theft was simply part of the way the world worked. As long as he stole without being caught, he was fulfilling his contract with society. Initially impressed by this ethos, Mr. Robot lost faith when his father was jailed, eventually realizing that he and everyone else were prisoners of capitalism.
